How the Fat Calculation Works

All fat values in this calculator come from representative USDA FoodData Central figures expressed per 100 grams. The core formula is simple: total fat grams = (serving weight in grams × fat per 100 g) ÷ 100. Once the fat grams are known, the calculator multiplies by 9 to get calories from fat, because each gram of fat supplies about 9 kcal. The daily target percentage divides the fat grams by your personal daily fat goal and multiplies by 100.
