How the Numbers Are Worked Out

Every result flows from one fat-density figure: how many grams of fat sit in each 100 g of cake. The calculator converts your portion to grams (1 oz = 28.35 g, 1 lb = 453.59 g), then applies:

Total fat = portion weight (g) × fat per 100 g ÷ 100

From there, fat per serving is total fat divided by the serving count. Calories from fat use the standard Atwater value of 9 kcal per gram of fat, the same figure used in FDA and USDA nutrition labeling. The percent daily value divides total fat by 78 g — the FDA's reference value for a 2,000-calorie diet — then multiplies by 100.
